Mrs. Katia Pirilidou is a Fellow Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW). She trained and qualified in the UK in 1980. She is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), on the Council of which she served as a member for 10 years. Mrs. Pirilidou was also a member of the Disciplinary Committee of ICPAC and a holder of the Advanced Diploma in Taxation of the Tax Faculty of the ICAEW.
After qualifying she worked for a number of years in a private firm of auditors and thereafter she joined the Tax Department of the Republic of Cyprus as a principal assessor. In 1994 she was appointed as the Head Limassol District Officer. In 1997 she was promoted to the Headquarters of the Inland Revenue Department in the position of Chief Revenue Officer, working in close cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and gaining invaluable experience in different types of complex, national and international tax-related issues.
At the time of her retirement in 2010, she held the following positions:
• Head of the International Tax Affairs Division (member of the negotiating team for the conclusion of numerous currently in place Double-Tax Treaties)
• Head of the Immovable Property & Capital Gains Tax Division
• Head of the Internal Audit Division
• Head of the Valuation Department Division
• Head of the Inheritance Tax Division
