Our Firm has been successful before the District Court of Nicosia which on 25.11.2020 issued a judgment dismissing an application for security for costs filed by several defendants in the context of a fraud/conspiracy to defraud claim, agreeing with the proposition of the plaintiff’s advocates and thus deciding that on the basis of the provisions of the Agreement between the Republic of Cyprus and Ukraine on Legal Assistance in Civil Matters, which has been ratified in Cyprus by Law 8(III)/2005, no order for security for costs may be ordered against a citizen of one of the contracting states, i.e. a Ukrainian citizen under the circumstances.

The hearing of the application was successfully handled by our Head of Litigation Department, Mr. Kyriakos Karatsis, and our Senior Associate, Ms. Antonia Argyrou, in cooperation with a premium Ukrainian law firm.
